Not all brides want to wear a princess gown on their wedding day. And not every bride feels comfortable spending thousands on a dress that they will only ever wear once.
At Frock Goddess our mission has always been to design non tradition, affordable bridal clothing with the focus primarily on fashion which is white (and sometimes other colours!) rather than ‘wedding dresses’. We think that brides should feel relaxed and a bridal version of themselves on their big day.
With the necessity for smaller, more intimate weddings we have found that there is an increased demand for super chilled out bridal fashion. Therefore, our City Hall Bride collection features our most laid-back bridal wear yet including bridal trousers, short wedding dresses and separates.
I was keen to design an entire range of pieces that could be worn again after the wedding: either on their own or mixed into the bride’s wardrobe with other pieces that are already there. To me this makes perfect sense from a financial and sustainability point of view. Plus, what could be more special that have a constant reminder of your wedding day in your wardrobe!
So not only do you not have to spend thousands on your wedding outfit – you also get to wear it again after the wedding.
The Wedding Dresses
The Emily Dress (named after my youngest daughter) is a timeless classic. The dress can be customised in length so you can choose knee length or full length. I have added a little bridal belt and pockets.
The dress is made from bamboo silk which a beautiful vegan alternative to silk. And it is fully lined with certified organic cotton.
This long lace dress has a glamourous 70s feel to it. It is see-through and can either be worn as it is or will a slip underneath. The fabric is deadstock lace. This is fabric that is surplus to requirements from bigger factories and is sold on to avoid it ending up in landfill.
Our puff sleeve Ellen dress is named after my niece as it is cute, cool & fun. This is the most relaxed dress in the range and is perfect for a super laid back wedding, a beach wedding, or an elopement. This could very easily be styled down with flats and a denim jacket for example and worn after the wedding.
This dress is made from certified organic cotton.
And finally, we wanted to throw a bit of black into the collection. I am obsessed with Audrey Hepburn and think that this dress represents her style beautifully. It could of course be worn for any special occasion but would look super cool as a black wedding dress.
This is made from vegan bamboo silk and lined with certified organic cotton. And just like the white Emily dress it has pockets!
The Separates
I was also keen to design lots of mix & match separates so that brides can choose their look.
Our cami top is especially versatile and can be paired with either our long or short skirts or the wide leg trousers in the range. All of these pieces are made either with bamboo vegan friendly silk or certified organic cotton.
As with all Frock Goddess clothing everything is hand made locally by myself or a small team of seamstresses.
