Without realising it my journey into sustainable wedding dresses started 20 years ago.
My first up-cycled dress!
I've always loved sewing and decided I would make my own wedding dress when I got married 20 years ago.
A friend of mine had got married in the 80s and had huge gown with lots of fabric. She gifted me this gown so that I could use the fabric to make my dress.
As you may imagine - chopping up her dress was pretty scary stuff! I had to be very careful before I made the first cut and there was a lot of checking and double checking! I knew I had to get it right the first time with such a precious gift of my friend's dress to use.
Little did I know then that this would sew (excuse the pun) a sustainable seed in my mind. When I decided to set up Frock Goddess I knew that sustainability was the way to go. I have lots of exciting ideas as to how to achieve my sustainable and ethical goals so watch this space.
